Biology
Studying Biology opens up our ability to understand and perceive the world around us from the microscopic to the Massive. Our curriculum is designed to provide our children with the scientific knowledge and skills they need to grow as individuals and became an active participant in our global community. Students will explore a range of biological topics which will foster their natural curiosity and develop lifelong learners.
Our young scientists will be taught to form evidence-based conclusions, challenge misconceptions and become resilient in the face of challenge. Our bespoke learning journey’s guide each child through a scaffolded approach to ensure all our students can immerse themselves in their own learning. Every student will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of science related activities with a particular emphasis on practical investigation and the conclusions that can be drawn from it. We take great pride in preparing our learners for their future careers by promoting key skills such as team work, organisation and their ability to take part in complex discussion.
During their 5 years at Tudor Grange Kingshurst students will follow a three-year pathway at Ks3 to provide them with broad content knowledge and understanding. In light of the turbulence in the past two years, students in year 9 will follow a bespoke learning pathway that aims to address any gaps in knowledge or skills from the previous two years whilst providing a secure foundation for GCSE. Our curriculum is designed to regularly revisit previous topics and encourage students to ‘delve deeper’ as they progress through their education; this enables students to retain a larger degree of information and apply their prior knowledge to new concepts.
We are delighted to offer AQA A-level Biology as a post-16 course. Biology is one of the fastest growing scientific subjects due to the constant scientific advancements. A-Level Biology provides a broad base that prepares students for work and further education in the fields of Science, medicine, veterinary and many others.
