We hope that this information will be a good base for everything you need to encourage you to take Geography A level. A Level Geography is a relatively new specification, so you will be provided with some up to date case studies and theories that put you at the forefront of geographical research. We hope to develop your passion for geography and give you an excellent overview of the world we live in.

What will I learn and how will I be assessed?

We study the AQA A level syllabus. There are three parts to the A level:

Paper 1 – Physical Geography – worth 40%
Water and Carbon cycles
Coastal systems and landscapes
Hazards
Paper 2 – Human Geography – worth 40%
Global systems and governance
Changing Places
Population and the Environment
NEA – an independent written investigation task worth 20% of the final grade

Why should I study Geography?

People pick Geography because; its current, job prospects are high, and we do residential fieldwork. Students who take geography have some of the lowest unemployment rates because of the range of skills Geography students must use to pass the course.
